ROCKFISH & ROW! SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2024     

Come join the Santa Cruz Rowing Club 2024 Rockfish ‘n Row on Saturday morning, June 1st.  We invite all human-powered vessels to join us on a fun row: rowing shells, kayaks, outriggers, SUPs, and other human-powered craft.  Note that this is a “Fun Day” with an emphasis on Fun! You are welcome to self-time and keep track of your place in the event.

There will be two courses: a short course (approximately 3 miles around buoys) and a long course (approximately 9 miles round trip to Capitola Wharf). GPS points will be announced at the Skippers Meeting just before launching. 

All participants are required to attend the Skippers Meeting at 8:00am June 1st in the Santa Cruz Harbor for safety and for signing waivers.  We will meet by the gate for Dock FF.

There is no fee for the event, but registration is required so we can plan the launch schedule. Register by emailing Wendy wking108@mac.com and/or Mandy mandyspit@yahoo.com.  In your email, please include your name and what type of craft you will be using. If you are teaming up to row a double or other multi-person craft, please include the team members’ names.

There will be a limited number of sculls available for rent, with priority for Santa Cruz Rowing Club members.  Please use the sign-up sheet for club members in the Oar Locker binder; or email Wendy and Mandy with your request. 

Following the event, please join us to enjoy lunch at Frederick Street Park, adjacent to the north Small Craft Harbor.  We will be offering fish tacos, rice and beans, guacamole and pico de gallo! Please indicate in your registration email how many people might want to eat, so sufficient food is prepared. No need to take part in the row to enjoy lunch – guests are welcome! Cost is $15 for Taco Lunch, payable at the lunch. Please bring cash to pay for lunch. NOTE: SC Rowing Club will cover lunch costs for UCSC student rowers.

There will be Santa Cruz Rowing Club memorabilia for sale, including hats, bags, magnets, and wine glasses. Cash preferred, though Venmo is okay.
